vs · Odoo

The Odoo shape, without the project.

Odoo is a remarkable piece of software: one platform with apps for accounting, inventory, point of sale, manufacturing, CRM, e-commerce and much more, an open-source edition you can host yourself, and partners in nearly every city. That breadth is also the cost. Most small businesses end up paying per user, hiring a partner to configure and customise it, and carrying every custom module through each yearly upgrade. If what you need is the books, the till, the stock and several branches working together, Nonari does exactly that on one flat plan, with unlimited users, and you can set it up yourself.

$29/mo
One location, every feature, unlimited users. Odoo’s hosted plans are billed per user.
Unlimited users
Every cashier, manager and accountant included — ten staff is still one price.
No partner
Set up from CSV imports in days; no implementation project or custom module to maintain.
Multi-branch
Per-branch books, stock and P&L as standard; Pro covers 3 branches for $70/mo.

The playbook

How to move from Odoo to Nonari.

Realistic timeline — most teams are running a parallel close within two weeks. Numbers below are based on what other Nonari customers actually took, not optimistic vendor estimates.

STEP 01

Export from Odoo

Odoo exports any list to CSV or Excel: contacts, products with on-hand quantity per warehouse, open invoices and bills, and the trial balance at your cut-over date.

STEP 02

Import into Nonari

Contacts and products import from CSV with opening stock at cost per branch; the trial balance becomes the opening entry; open invoices and bills load as documents so ageing is right from day one.

STEP 03

Run both for a week

Ring sales in both systems for a week and compare the daily close and the trial balance. Differences show up while both sets of books are still in front of you.

STEP 04

Cut over at a month end

Switch the tills and the team on the first of the month, and keep the Odoo database read-only for history.

Where Odoo wins

The honest part.

No software wins on everything. If any of these matter more than what Nonari does well, stay with Odoo — we will not pretend otherwise.

The breadth of the platform

CRM, website builder, e-commerce, helpdesk, marketing and HR apps on the same database. Nonari is accounting, POS, inventory, manufacturing and payroll; if you want every department in one system, Odoo is the better fit.

Open source and self-hosting

Odoo Community is free to run on your own servers, and its code is open to customise. Nonari is cloud software only.

Deep manufacturing and a huge ecosystem

MRP, PLM, quality and maintenance modules, thousands of community modules and partners worldwide. Nonari covers bills of materials, production jobs, live WIP and variance — not PLM or quality control.

Common questions

Migration questions, answered.

What is the best Odoo alternative for a small business?

It depends on what you used Odoo for. If you need CRM, a website and e-commerce on one database, another ERP is the comparison. If you need accounting, a POS, inventory and several branches working together, Nonari covers that core on one ledger for $29 a month with unlimited users, without an implementation partner.

Is Odoo free?

Odoo Community is free and open source if you host and maintain it yourself. Odoo’s hosted plans are billed per user per month, with a single app free. For most small businesses the larger cost is implementation: configuring, customising and upgrading with a partner.

Can Nonari replace Odoo for a retail chain?

For the books, the tills, stock per store, transfers, cashier accountability and payroll — yes, on one ledger with per-store P&L. For an online store, CRM pipeline or helpdesk, no: keep a dedicated tool for those, or stay on Odoo if you want them all in one system.

How long does it take to move from Odoo to Nonari?

For a small business, about a week: a day to export and import, then a week of parallel running before cutting over at a month end. Opening balances come from the Odoo trial balance, so the history stays in Odoo and the books start clean.

Does Nonari have manufacturing like Odoo MRP?

Nonari has bills of materials with stages, production jobs with live work in progress, variance against the bill of materials and the cost-of-goods-manufactured report. It does not have PLM, quality control or maintenance modules — if those run your plant, Odoo is the better fit.

What does Nonari cost compared with Odoo?

Nonari is $29 a month for one location and $70 a month for up to 3, with every feature and unlimited users, and a 15-day free trial with no card. Odoo is priced per user per month, so the gap grows with every person who needs a login — before any partner fees.
